TOKAJBOR-BENE WINE ESTATE AND WINERY - [magyar]
The Tokajbor-Bene Wine Estate and Winery, situated at the heart of Tokaj Wine Region in northeastern Hungary in Bodrogkeresztúr, was established by Miklós Bene in 1998. This is a family comapny working with the aim to preserve and spread out the reputation of Tokaj Wine Specialities. The Winery owns a vineyard of 10 hectares in chateau Lapis, Szepsy, Kisvár and Dereszla; according to the grape-varietes 70 % Furmint, 20 % Hárslevelű, 6 % Muscat Lunel and 4 % Kövérszőlő flourish all over the vineyards. The yield of private plantage is completed with buying up from other smaller vine-growers, mainly in the case of Zéta grape-variety. The cellar Barrel-ageing of our wines with uniquely rich and harmonic oxidative aroma is taken in a 150 years old special traditional cellar, which was the property of the noble Máriássy-family in the 18th century. Walls of the cellar are covered with a special mould called Cladosporium cellare playing important role in the ageing of noble wines. The cellar has a capacity of 40 people taking a wine-taste with winery show and cellar walk. The aszú production Tokaji Aszú is known as one of the oldest botrytized wine types all over the world. Favourable parameters are offered to the formation of noble rot caused by Botrytis cinerea by the climatic conditions, soil circumstances and grape-varietes of Tokaj-region. As the result of noble rot aszú-berries represent the most important raw material of the world-wide known Tokaj Wine Specialities. When producing Aszú wine refined winemaking methods are applied. Three, four, five or six puttonys (1 puttony is equivalent to 27 kg) of aszú-berries are added to a gönczi barrel (136 litres) conatining new wine. After the extraction the high sugar-level aszú grape juice is pressed, then referments and placed in oak barrels for ageing. Wine-sortiment Made from the excellent raw materials, a wide range of Tokaji Wines presents in the sortiment of the winery. Brand-wines (Furmint, Muscat Lunel): dry/semi-sweet.
